Beginner Obedience

Class size is limited, so only those who have enrolled and paid for class are guaranteed a spot. If you choose to enroll in person during the first class, please DO NOT BRING THE DOG. The first class is orientation and is for people only.

• Puppy Preschool – 8 weeks
• Beginner Obedience – 6 months (5 months if your puppy has completed our Puppy Preschool Class)
• Beginner Agility – 1 year

There is no "too old". We have started dogs as old as 13. Dogs love to learn, no matter their age.

We use the clicker training method in our classes, and all classes are taught on that foundation. For that reason, in our experience, dogs who have been home-trained or attended classes elsewhere have a very difficult time "catching up" in our intermediate class. We believe you, your dog, and your training goals will be best served by attending our beginner class first. Feel free to call us at 479.444.0300 for further discussion on this issue.

A very wise therapy dog evaluator once told us, "If someone ever tries to charge you for ‘therapy dog classes', run! Because the training for a therapy dog is obedience training!" And, yes, we do obedience training…LOTS of obedience training. Assuming your dog has the right temperament to become a therapy dog, we can absolutely help you achieve that goal.

Yes we can! We have three AKC-certified CGC evaluators on staff.

No. There are so very many different types of service dogs who provide so very many types of services. But that is not a "service" we offer here at The Canine Connection.

No. We can advise you on how to housebreak your dog, but housebreaking training does not transfer. In other words, if we teach your dog not to urinate/defecate in our facility, that's what it learns – not to urinate/defecate in our facility. It has not learned not to do those things at your house.
